With your help, we can do anything. At UMR, we strongly believe in providing individuals with the opportunity to give back to their communities and to communities around the world.

As well as having a national network of volunteers across the United States, we also have a database of professional volunteers who go out on our international missions both in response to emergencies and as part of our development programs. (Please note we only take professional volunteers on these international deployments such as Doctors, Dentists, Engineers and Firefighters.)

UMR Emergency Response Program at a Glance

UMR responds to on average three major disasters or emergencies per year. In 2018 alone, UMR brought relief programs and projects to North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and California with UMR’s Emergency Response domestic program. We utilized over 50 volunteers for disasters Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Florence, and the California Wildfires. For UMR’s work overseas volunteers play a huge part in assisting staff at site locations. The goal of the UMR Emergency Response Program is to help survivors in all stages of a disaster and give emergency relief.

Volunteer Impact

Being a volunteer for a nonprofit organization has an impact on the community in a positive way. By volunteering you get to have hands on training in emergency response efforts and help those in the community recover.

Training and Management

There will be opportunities for training for UMR Emergency Response Program volunteers. Those who are 16 years of age or older may apply to volunteer and those under 18 years of age must have consent from a guardian. Training sessions will be about 30 minutes in length and can be done online. Once training is complete, volunteers can select the areas in which they can volunteer and virtually sign release forms. A background check will be done on applicants prior to training.
