For millions of people around the world, winter is often a terrifying and life-threatening experience. Whether it be Syrian refugees fleeing violence and living in makeshift plastic camps, Palestinians living in their destroyed Gazan homes, or refugees in Jordan facing severe food shortages due to the conflict; these brothers and sisters in humanity face their toughest test yet.
It is estimated that 153 million children worldwide, ranging from infants to teenagers, have lost one or both parents. The number of young children being orphaned is increasing: families torn apart through war, poverty, hunger and disease. Exploitation and abuse are rife. The world sees the problem in its vastness. We see millions of individuals each being denied a future with opportunities.
