UMR takes this opportunity to express special recognition and appreciation to BEVOL for its partnership to host the launch of the Global Volunteering Index (GVI). BEVOL’s unwavering dedication to connecting causes with volunteers worldwide is a driving force behind initiatives like the Global Volunteering Index.Â
Congratulations to BEVOL for the incredible work they do! This platform is not only mature and robust, but it also holds tremendous potential to support volunteering for causes that matter most, helping us all contribute to building a better world.
A special congratulation is also in order for BEVOL’s development of the GVI itself. This Index will be a powerful tool for thousands of NGOs and charities around the world who rely on volunteers to deliver vital services, making the world a more secure, livable and happy place. Volunteers are the backbone of these efforts, and the GVI will help ensure their work is recognized, supported, and scaled, benefiting individuals, families, and communities across the globe.Â
At UMR, our vision is to see a world of dignified communities—a world where every person has access to the resources and opportunities they deserve. We work toward this vision every day, and it is the dedication and support of volunteers that make it possible. Whether it’s delivering infant formula to children in Gaza, providing incubators to hospitals in Palestine, growing fruits and vegetables in hydroponic farms in Kenya, delivering food and medicine in Sudan, or providing lifesaving cholera medication to Yemen, or drilling water wells in Bangladesh and Kenya, or any of the many relief and development UMR projects, – it is our volunteers who make these missions a reality.Â
The work of BEVOL and the Global Volunteering Index is most welcome, as it will help amplify the impact of UMR and other NGOs around the world. By improving the efficiency and effectiveness of volunteer efforts, this Index will ensure that the work we all do , through volunteers and staff, continues to uplift those who need it most.Â
UMR’s commitment to volunteers goes beyond the work of immediate relief. We believe in building the skills and capacity of our volunteers for long-term impact. Through the UMR Institute in the USA, we train thousands of volunteers annually in project management, leadership, and other essential skills. These volunteers not only benefit UMR’s operations but also strengthen communities they live in across the country.
UMR also takes pride in pioneering volunteer chapters at universities nationwide. These chapters engage young college students in charitable work, fundraising, policy discussions, and advocacy. These university chapters serve to groom the next generation of UMR leaders who will drive innovative programs and projects, towards a world of dignified communities.Â
We join BEVOL in celebrated the launch of the Global Volunteering Index—a significant step forward in advancing volunteerism and its impact worldwide. Congratulations to the entire BEVOL team for this extraordinary accomplishment, and we look forward to the positive change it will inspire.
