68.5 Million People Could Die This Winter
Refugees are at their most vulnerable this Winter. A global displacement crisis has driven over 68.5 million people from their homes. That’s 20 people every minute. Without a place to call home, these refugee families may not survive the winter.
In Bangladesh, Rohingya refugees no longer have a place to call home. In Yemen, parents can not feed their starving children. In Palestine, displaced mothers are trying to keep their children warm and dry. In Lebanon and Jordan, Syrians are facing their eighth winter in exile – for them, enduring the bitter cold has become a yearly struggle.
This winter, 815 million people will go to bed on an empty stomach every single night. As temperatures drop below freezing, parents around the world are being forced to make a terrible choice between feeding their children and keeping them warm. Just $95 will provide a family with enough nutritious food.
In the bitter cold, refugee children don’t stand a chance. Many don’t have winter coats or shoes on their feet. They walk barefoot in the snow, collecting scraps of wood and plastic to burn for fuel. These innocent little ones need help to survive the winter. $150 will provide a desperate family with food and winter survival essentials like blankets and warm clothing to help them survive the bitter months.
Freezing temperatures slash the chances of survival for tiny babies living as refugees or in camps for displaced people. Without warm clothes or blankets, they have no protection from the cold. The winter cold can so easily snatch away the lives of innocent newborns. Your donation will give a vulnerable baby and their family the warm clothes, blankets, and heating fuel they so desperately need to keep warm this winter.
