Bangladesh (Rohingya Refugees) Emergency Appeal
On the 25th of August 2017, a security crackdown following attacks conducted by Rohingya militants saw the commencing of a brutal campaign undertaken by Burmese troops and backed by Buddhist mobs on the persecuted Rohingya. As one of the most persecuted minorities in the world due to deep-seated tensions between the Rohingya and the majority Buddhist population, the latest violence has prompted the fleeing of more than 410,000 Rohingya to Bangladesh from the Rakhine State. Death tolls figures have not been confirmed but the estimate is in the hundreds – men, women and children shot to death or burned alive.
