CA WILDFIRE – EMERGENCY RESPONSE UPDATE

As part of the Better Together Coalition, we developed and facilitated Art Day, Art based therapy, for school age children who survived the California Wildfires. Children were filled with joy as they were able to put their worries aside and work on their masterpieces! This program was run in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and Paradise Elementary School in Oroville, CA

This past week, UMR’s Emergency Coordinator deployed to Chico, California to assist with the California wildfires. Over 20 UMR volunteers participated in assembling 100 hygiene kits and food baskets for survivors, including senior citizens. We thank everyone who assisted us in this important mission, and will continue to share updates with you as our work continues.

As of November 14th, UMR is anticipating to deploy staff for an immediate relief effort in response to the California Wildfires that have take over 40 lives. Organizations and volunteers are urged to remain on standby until the area has been cleared for efforts to commence. If you or someone you know has been personally affected by the CA Wildfires, we want to hear from you!
