Syria-Emergency

Four years after the outbreak of the Syria conflict, UMR is assisting Syrian refugees and Syrians trapped by the violence inside the country. We provide medical and other critical aid, such as food aid, winter packs, clean water and education resources.

UMR is currently providing support to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria.

Healthcare

In the last 12 months we have sent three medical containers into Syria and 1 to Jordan to assist Syrian refugees. As well as sending medicine to tackle chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, we supplied essential medical supplies including syringes, aluminum canes, crutches, hip arthroscopy kits, oxygen masks and surgical packs. Over 100,000 Syrians benefited from these shipments. UMR is also funding a dental clinic inside Syria which has served over 1000 people.

Winter Relief

The winter of 2014/15 was one of the worst to hit the middle-east in the last century. Severe snowstorms hit the entire region affecting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees. UMR dispatched teams to Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey to deliver much needed, fuel, heathers, blankets and cloths to help over 15,000 refugees survive the bitter cold.

For the second year in a row, UMR united churches and mosques throughout Fairfax County in Northern Virginia to set an example of unity as they came together to help lead a blanket drive for Syrian Refugees.

Education

As well as providing shelter for 28 (at least 140 people) Syrian families in Oubur City, Egypt, and distributing monthly food packs to over 100 families (at least 500 individuals), we funded the education of 1500 Syrian children in the Syria Al Gad Education Centre.
