United Mission for Relief and Development (UMR) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. We are one of the fastest growing NGOs in the country, with a focus on relief and developmental needs globally and domestically.

We are looking for a competent Call Center Representative to work closely with other team members to provide outstanding service to our donors by answering questions, handling complaints, and soliciting donations. The Call Center Representative should be comfortable handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, and should seek to create a positive experience for each caller. This position is temporary and will last up to 6 weeks but has the possibility of becoming full-time.

Responsibilities

To be a successful Call Center Representative, you should be donor-focused, detail-oriented, and efficient. You should be polite, reliable, knowledgeable, and adaptable.

  • Cold call people from our database to update them about our current campaigns and solicit donations
  • Answer incoming calls from prospective donors
  • Use scripts to provide information about our programs and answer any questions they may have
  • Ask pertinent questions to understand what is important to the donor
  • Persuade the donor to make a charitable contribution to current campaigns
  • Record the donor’s personal information accurately in a computer system
  • Deal with complaints or doubts to safeguard the organization’s reputation
  • Keep records of calls and donations and record useful information 

Requirements

  • Multi-tasking will add to your success, and your success is important to us.
  • Tech-savvy. You’ll be helping our customers on your computer while on the phone so you should be pretty good at
  • Positive attitude, professional communication skills, and a desire to go above and beyond will make you a top producer.
  • Proficient in English, bilingual Preferred (Arabic and/or Urdu)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Patient and able to handle customer rejection
  • Bachelor’s degree required

We are seeking a competent Program Assistant to work from our headquarters office in Washington, DC. The Program Assistant will lead domestic programming and support our international field offices by providing operational and programmatic support. As part of a small team, the Program Assistant will learn about organizing, community and economic development, and nonprofit program management.

Responsibilities:

Programmatic and Logistics Support:

  • Work with international program leads to assist in all aspects of programming including research, outreach, and communications.
  • Work with Operations Manager on domestic program development.
  • Update workforce development materials on a monthly basis.
  • Manage data entry in performance management and contact management database (Salesforce)F14

Communications and Reporting Support:

  • Draft monthly narrative and indicator reports for submission to headquarters.
  • Support director and managers in development and production of program materials such as flyers, brochures, one-pagers, etc.
  • Assist in the drafting of reports to donors.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage program files for the department, including uploading and tagging of documents on online databases and filing hard copies of documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English, written and oral. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Superior relationship-building skills. Courteous and professional manner. Multicultural sensitivity.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related experience preferred; Bachelor’s required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Must have U.S. Work Authorization.

Job Description

We are looking for a competent Volunteer Management Coordinator to recruit and manage UMR’s volunteers, including university and community volunteers. The goal is to ensure that our organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable individuals, and that they are correctly utilized for the fulfillment of our mission.

It takes a competent leader to succeed in this post. You should know how to distinguish talent and do everything possible to motivate and inspire. You must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.

Responsibilities
· Source, recruit, and build a robust volunteer database through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.) to gain community support of the volunteer program and the organization
· Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers
· Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions, including international missions
· Build and maintain a roster of emergency response volunteers with required skills to support staff on domestic deployments
· Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments including their availabilities and skills
· Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers
· Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are meeting goals, satisfied and well-placed
· Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
· Grow and engage university chapter volunteers for fundraising purposes
· Develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization
· Administer and monitor expenditures for the volunteer program against the approved budget
· Ensure the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated

Requirements
· At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
· Proven experience planning events and fundraisers
· Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
· Experience in recruiting through various channels
· Working knowledge of databases and MS Office (especially Excel)
· Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
· Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
· A pleasant, outgoing personality
· BS/BA required
